Jesus wise now coming toward the cluse of lit* ministry and he gave hie disciples some greatly needed special teachings among them being that of true greatness. V. 33 "And he came io Capernaum: and being In the house he asked them. What was it that ye disputed among yomselviM by the way?" Jesust knew the thoughts and intents of the disciples' minds and took lheir selfish ambition* as an oceanton to teach time greatness. V 31 "Hut they held their peace; for by the way they had disputed among t hemeel ves, who should be the greatest." They were ashamed to tell what they had beeu talking about. It le laid manners to talk rbout one's aclflsn ambl’ions. V 35. "And he sat down, and called the twelve, a lid eaith unto them. If any man desirelh to be first, the same eliali be last of all, and servant of all." Jesua was here uttering a general principle: if you want to be flip:, you must humble yourself and become last of ail in the eye* of rh.- world, even the servant of all the rest. To have the '"right spirit" is of prime importance. V. 36 37 "And he took a child and set him In ihe midsi of them, and when he had taken him in his aims, he said unto them, whosoever shall receive cne of such children In my name, receiveth me; and whosoever shall receive me, reeeiveih no: me. but him that sent me.” The little child m teachable, obedient, simple, trustful, and unassuming; these are the characteristics which drew to one's soul the richest blessings of God. V. 38. "And John answered him saying. Master, we sa.w one ( asting out devils in thy iwme. and he follow*'h not t:u; and we fortiad him bei aust- he folluweth not as.” Here w.-|i- possible good disciple* wh > t"-yj"d encouragement rather than ehllsttcisni Criticlsni ie due thewe * ! b’<vWw tav 'oleiate others’ < arryinf •ff'Rlb will when tb.-y du not proceed according to certain preand bed fotvns. There is a tendency to think of children as causing too much trot >*>e and hence due attention I* thwarted. Too many forge' that a child la accepted as a member of Undo kingdom and if all the children were kept in the kingdom the solid would lie saved in one generation. The following vemo makes tbit fact very Hear. V. 15. "Verily I say unto you. Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God a* a little child, lie shall not enter therein.” Here u a judgm> nt of Christ announced. Here tea fact of being lost wbi.-b is a very serious matter.
