The manpower shortage, which Ims been reflected in the diffia tilty of fighting foreet fires during the war. and the greater need for the preservation of timber for defense uses is the basis for the urgency *tf the appeal thia year by Mr. Shaw. One of the greatest forest fire hazards, according to Mr. Shaw, is the burning of brush, although many Area originate from other aourcM.
