Protests Grow On Corn Ceiling Price Removal Os Ceiling Urged In Midwest Chciago, July 12—(t'P) —A rising tide or protest against the celling price on corn is being heard throughout the midwest. Corn merchants and processors urge removal or the lid In order to check life diversion of corn into hog-feeding channels and force a return to a normal movement on the market. The warning of men In the market* follows the demand of the national gi-ain trade council that Washington do something to relieve the situation. One merchant predict* that the government will lake action thin week. The movement of corn from the farms to market Is steadily dwindling. Buyers say that one week's receipts at the terminals don't even compare to those of one good day under normal conditions. They place the blame on the fact that corn is worth more as pork than It Is as corn. It is estimated that when the grain is fe<i to hog* it brings 11.40 a bushel. But the present ceiling price Is 01.07 a bushel. Another complication is that the recent heavy floods reduced the corn crop to about 1.000.000,000 bushel* les* than last year. Commlsalon merchant* admit that lifting the ceiling price would bring more hogs into an already glutted market. Bui the merchi ants *ay the situation would adjust itself If corn is allowed to seek it* own price level. o Stock Closing New York.
