prepared by Dally Democrat—Batty Crocker Home Service Department WITH OR WITHOUT BAKED BEANS Brown breed end baked beans seem to belong together like June and brides. Yet we do have October and December brides—so why not brown bread without baked beans? You’ll find that the brown brtxd makes delicious and different sandwiches for the lunch box—especially if you use a soft cream cheese filling. Os course, these days of meat shortages bring our good old friend, the bean pot, into prominence. You can make baked beans without salt nork. Uoe plenty of butter or bacon fat or any fat you have—and you’ll have a very satisfactory dish of baked beans. That • what our grandmothers did it there was no salt pork at hand for the Saturday beans. And here’s a recipe for the Boston Brown Bread.
