Clarence A. Jack*on. state director of civilian defense, announced today. In the program known a* the "security of war Informat.on" cam pulgn, all citizen* of Indiana, and those of all other state*, ate to be reminded that loose conversation, although seemingly harmless in nature, may provide enemy agent* with information that will ultimately result in tire death of thousand* of our men and women In the armed force* and the loss of million* of dollar* worth of war material*. But one of hi* crew. John Sherman, of Westchester, New York, an electrician’* mate first claw*, has revealed a few of “Fearless Freddlt’*" exploit*. One day an order came through to g. into a bay filled with Jap ship* and clean it out. Rberman says: •’We went Into that hay all richt and came out th< way we went in." | As the submarine slid over th<- i j floor of the bay near the harbor piers. "Fearless Freddie" took hl* place at the periscope and k pt file men posted a* to what was going on. All night long, the submarine lay quietly at the bottom of the bay. while the Japo frantically dropped depth charges. Bright and early the next morning, the Sea WoTf was at it again Tii-- skipper spotted an iber transport, and seat a torpedo into it. A thunderous explosion, and the transport quietly slid under the water. Jap planes came after them at that point, but even then the skipper wouldn't leave, latter that day. he got a Jap freighter and ou the fourth day. another. After that they pulled out.
