Sometimes it's merely a social cup of tea or coffee—or a cold refreshing fruit drink -and, of course, wmr de'ieiou* little Mokics. So we're ever on the look-out for new and different cookies to offer on these occasions. And hem. I believe, am two sueh cooky recipe* One Is an interesting and unu>ual filled rooky—while the other is a delicious little drop cooky that's full of delightful surprise* —such a* pieces of refreshing pineapple or crunchy bit* of nut meats. Doesn't that sound exactly line what you've been wanting for a long time —cookies ju»t a little different from those everyone else is serving’ Here are the recipes: Filled Golden Jubilee Cookiea 2 cups all-purpose flour 6 egg yolks 1 cup shortening Sift flour once before measuring. Cut the shortening into the flour with a pastry blender or two knives. With a fork, blend in the beaten •g;; yolks, a little at « time Place pastry in bowl covered with waxed paper, and ehill for several hours. Holl dough into a very thin sheet oa a cloth-covered board (using flour rubbod into cloth to keep dough from sticking), and cut dough into 3-inch sc;uarrs. Place 1 teaspoon of the tilling oa one comer of the square Fold dough overlapping the filling like cornucopia Place on floured cooky sheet and hake 30 minutes in a slow oven. 300* F. Cool and dust with confectioners’ sugar. Thi* makes 5 dozen cookie*. Filling « egg whites •" X tsp. vnnilla *i tsp salt *« tap. almond extract to tap. eream of tartar to t*p. cinnamon 1 eup sugar 1 eup ground almonds Add the salt to the egg white* and beat until foamy. Add the eream of tartar and continue beating until mixture holds it* shape, when a little is dropped from the beater. Beat in the sugar, about a tablespoon at a time, until all is used and mixture ia very stiff. It must b« so thick that when mixture ia eut through with spoon it will not eoms together, but remain divided. Fold in the flavorings, cinnamon and nuts. Use ae filling for Filled Golden Jubilee Cookie*. Honolulu ( ooktoo Pi eup butter • Ito cups all-purpose flour ii eup sugwi | 3 tap. baking powder 2 egg*, weil-beaten I y> tap. salt ?j cup crushed pineapple (well i to eup finely chopped nuta drained) I Cream butter, add sugar gradually, and cream thoroughly. Blend in the well-beaten eggs. Blend in the wet-drained pineapple. Sift the flour once before measuring. Sift the flout with the baking powder and salt . . . and add to the pineapple mixture Blend in the nut* with the last addition of flour. Drop by teaspoonfui* onto a well-greased rooky sheet... about 2 inches apart. Bake 10 to 12 minute* (or until di-licateiy browned) in a moderate oven. 350' F.
