Decatur Rotarians proved themselves slightly belter "riders" than the I4»ns Thursday night, and aa a result the Rotarians nosed out a 2-1 victory in the donkey softball game, played at the South Ward diamond as a Boy Scout benefit. The only resemblance to a softball game was the fact that a ball and a bat were used All players, with the exception of the pitcher, catcher and hatter were astride donkeys. And the batter, after hitting the ball, was forced to mount a donkey and ride the bases The batters' donkey* proved de- - idedly opposed to being ridden, however, and fortunate was the batter which reached first base safely without being tossed overl">ard by hla mount at least twice. Three t(M>*es and the batter was out Most of them were out. The feature qf the game »»• a double play engineered by the Rotarians when two Lions were unable to control their mounts perfectly after reaching base and were trapped off base at the same time. At the conclusion of the "game." a donkey derby was held, with Carl Gerber's mount carrying him from ••enter field first to the home plate. And so. a clean sweep for the Ro-
