PARADE MONDAY NIGHT TO OPEN LEAGUE SEASON City And Church l.ranurs To Play Four Nights Each Week Softball, which han grown, in popularity by leaps and bound* throughout th- nation in recent years. will be officially launched for the 1839 season in lieiatur n-xt Monday night, June 5, Two league* will play throughout the summer. the church league and the city league. Four team* comprise the church league and ail the city league. Detailed plan* for a gala opening were announced this morning by Sylvester Everhart, president of the softball association. and George Laurent, supervisor of the WPA recreation program, joint sponsor* of the softball play Game* will be played on Mon day. Tuesday. Thursday and Friday nights of each week under the light* at the South Ward diamond Games will be played at 7 and 8 p in each night Open With Parade The season will be formally opened with a parade Monday evening from the corner of Second and Jackson streets to the South Ward diamond. All player* of all league team* are asked to report at the Knapp service station be fore < 30 to join in the line of March Th-- parade will lie headed by the combined school band, direct ed by Albert Sellemeyer. and the city band, directed by Gerald Zimmerman.
