Sift flour one* before ■anauriag. Sift flour and salt together and add gradually to egg and sugar mixture. Bret until smooth. Add vanilla. Stir in the nut meats and rum drop*. Spread the mixture to about to meh thickness in a well greased and floured S-Mah square pan. Sprinkle eoaraely cut gum drop* over the top of the batter. Bak* 2S minute* m a moderate *v*a, 250’ F. When baked, remove from oven and cut into bar* while still warm, and remove from pan when eool. Amount: 27 bars (2 py 1 inch). Brown Sugar Gum Drop Cookies These cookies may also be made with brown sugar. Use Ito eupe light brown sugar (sifted and packed into eup to measure) instead of the white sugar. Th* brown sugar impart* a special fla- | vor, but the colored gum drops do not show up as well in the darker cookie*.
