JACKETS LOSE AFTER LEADING AT FIRST HALF Red Devils Rally In Fourth Quarter To Take 40-30 Victory For Uh> second time within as many weeks. Auburn scored a last quarter rally Friday night on their home floor and this time it was the Decatur Yellow Jackets who fell victim to the attack. 40-30. The Juckets. after leading most of the way up to that time, fell before the home team’s onslaught in the third quarter — shortly after Johnny McConnell left the tilt with his fourth personal and Auburn with their sniping in the last stanxa. 9 The Jackets trailed 9-11 at the first quarter, but took the lead over at half-time, 19-16. Led by McConnell, who went on a scoring spree of 10 points in little more than half a game, the locals were apparently on their way to victory. With two minutes of the third quarter gone, McCo tnell committed his fourth personal. Taking advantage of the revamped lineup, the Red Devils changed th» picture from 29-22 to 29-2 T at quarter time. Reminiscent of their victory over Kendallville last week, the Red Devils started swishing the net from all angles in the final period and when the gun sounded they were 10 points out in front. Rinehold. McDarby and Hersh shared scoring honors for the winners. getting 11. 10 and 10 points, respectively. McConnell led the local scorers with 10 points, with Highland and Gaunt getting six each. FG. FT. TP.
