CHRISTIAN LADIES HAVE MEETING The Christian Ladies’ Aid met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs, Everett Huttker. Th? president had charge of the business and the devotionals. Plans were comi pleted for the serving of the supper ; given by the Brotherhood of the church Saturday evening. Mrs. Paul Daniels, Mrs. Harl Muffott, and ! Mrs. Fred Schiderer will be in charge of the entertainment for the | Christmas party, to be held at the nome of Mrs. James Kitchen. Mrs. Harmon Kraft will be assisting hostess. The Home Missionary Society ot the Methodist church will meet Thursday afternoon in the church parlors. The leader will be Mrs. N. A. Bixler. Hostesses for the meeting are Mesdames F. V. Mills. Herald Smith, Henry Krick, George Mclntosh, and Russel Owens. All members are asked to bring or send their contributions for the Christmas box to be sent to the Peek Home, Polo. Illinois. The society . will have the third in their series of rummage sales Saturday in the church basement. i A supper will be served ’•) the basement of the Christian church Saturday evening from five to seven o’clock. i The monthly meeting of the W. I A. S. club was held Wednesday evening at the home ot Miss Bernardine Hockman. During the business meeting, officers were elected , fo l ' the coming year and plans were made for the coming Christmas par- | ty. The hostess had charge of the entertainment. Refreshments were ' served at the close of the meeting. Those present were Lucille Baker I Ruth Ann Borns. Josephine Daniels, Mary Alice Garad. Geraldine Heimann and Ethel Miller. — Mrs. Hattie Steele will be hosi teess to the firemen’s auxiliary at her home on South Eighth street Monday evening at seven thirty o’clock. The annual Christmas exchange will be held and auxiliary sisters' names will be revealed. All members are urged to be present. ; The Young Peoples class of the Pleasant Valley Sunday school held the regular meeting at the home of Dwight Kern recently. A snort business meeting was held and it was decided to hold the next meeting at the home of Lillian Johnloz. Games and contests was enjoyed. GECODE CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE Thirty members of the Gecode club of the General Electric company held their second annual conference at the hotel Keenan, Fort Wayne, last Saturday. The conference opened at 9:30 A. M. with a beautiful and impressive ceremony, with "Faith” as the theme. Miss Irene Meyers, personnel directress, of the Fort Wayne works, and Elsie i Brunnegraff. president o fthe local club, had charge of the entire program of the day. The morning was apent in a discussion concerning the years activities. At noon a luncheon was served in the Egyptian room. During the general assembly in the afternoon, the year .book of the club was arranged and the chairmen of the parties selected. Other appointments were made concerning the club hostesses, flower committee, travel chairmen, press correspondent, scrap book editor, financial chairmen. The conference concluded with a beautiful candellight service, conducted by Miss Meyers. Each member was presented with a book entitled “friendship,” as a souvenir. The third annual conference ot the Gecode Club is planned to be held next year in October. MISSIONARY SOCIETY HA« MEETING The Thomasine Allen Missionary society of the baptist church met at the home of Mrs. Homer Reppert Thursday afternoon. Plans were made for the Christmas party for the Junior church. Miss Jane Augenbaugh was the leader. Quilt blocks were cut during the social hour. The hostess served lovely refreshments at the close of the meeting. Those present were the Mesuames Darrell Bedwell, Frank Young, Woodson Ogg, Homer Aapy, John Metzger and son, Grover Liby and daughter, Ernest Lake, jerry Rumple and Miss Jane Augenbaugh. The next meeting will be held December fifteen with Miss Augenbaugh. Mrs. Reppert will be tjie leader. There will be a Christmas exchange at this meeting. — -o PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. C. O. France returned to their home in Gary today. They motored here last evening to bring Mrs. W. A. Lower home after a ten days visit with them. Mr. France reported that his mother, Mrs. Isabelle France is still very seriously ill as the result of a stroke suffered about a month ago. Dee Fryback will return today from a hunting trip to Danville, 111. Mrs. Roy Archbold, ill the past week, is reported better today. Mr. and Mrs. James Beattey of i Indianapolis visited here a short time. To comply with federal orders as regards mailing of newspapers, subscriptions should be paid in advance and cannot be extended longer than one year. We want to send j the paper to everybody who desires 1 it but we cannot do so unless they I

Mrs- John C. Magley who was op- < rated on ten days ago Is recovering nicely according to reports from the Adams County Memorial hospital where she is a patient. Joseph Winteregg of Berne was a caller at this office. He is one of the old timers we are always glad to visit and counsel with. ARRIVALS Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beal are the parents of a baby boy, born Thursday evening at ten fifty three o’clock at the Adams county memorial hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds five and three-fourtn ounces, and has been named John Edward. CHURCH REVIVAL| Revival meeting is on at Pleasant Valley Wesleyan Methodist church, 2 miles east and one mile south of Monroe. E. J. Mills and singers from Marion College. Services begin at 7:00. COURT HOUSE I 4 New Case A suit to collect a note has been filed by the Peoples Bank Company, oi Fort Recovery, Ohio, against N. E. Grile and others. Summons were ordered to the sheriff or Adams I county for the defendants, returnable December 12. Answer Filed An answer in general denial has been filed by the defendant in the suit on account, brought by A. N. Sprunger against Henry Amstutz. The case was submitted, evidence heard and a finding and judgment . rendered for the plaintiff in the sum of with relief. Set For Trial A suit to collect an account, brought by the Brown Broekmeyer company, inc., against the General Ice Machines, Inc. and Dick Burdg, trading as the General Ice Machine company, has been set for tiial on January 10.
