REBEL AGAINST CROP PROGRAM Corn Belt Liberty League Organizes Unit At Monmouth, 111. Monmouth, 111., May s.—flj.R) — The corn belt liberty league, spoil- | soring a “revolt" against the gov-1 eminent crop control program, organized a unit last night among fanners of west central Illinois. Five hundred farmers crowded into the Warren county courthouse jto hear league President Tilden Burg, Sciota, 111., protest corn acreage allotments of the agricultural adjustment administratoin and what he called "regimentation” of farmers. Toward the end of the meeting, j after the delegates had ratified by ! acclamation a resolution condemning crop control, I. N. Willis, Mon- ' mouth township investigator for the AAA, stood up and began a defense of the crop program. He sat down when his voice was drowned by boos and shouts from I the audience. Tiie meeting was the first of' . three scheduled for Illinois this | week and next. Burg announced that he had received an application from a group ' of Nebraska farmers for a state-; wide membership charter. He said I ' the Nebraska movement was sponOffortory—Berceuse Rogers Savior When Night Involves the Skies Shelley ' Hail Gladdening Light Noble Sermon —Rev. Charles H. Smith. Six of the league's organizers, from the Macomb, 111., headquarters, were with Burg last night. “They aided on the Initial organization," he said, “and they are not all Republicans.” The unit formed last night, to ; he known as the Warren county | branch, was the first organized in Illinois since the league's rally at Macomb three weeks ago. The resolution adopted was the same which delegates to the Macomb meeting voted and forwarded to President Roosevelt and Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace. It demanded repeal of (he crop control measures. o Mrs. Neva B. Sharrow spent Thursday visiting in Fort Wayne.
