Ossian Wins Over Yellow Jackets, 47 te d
WEILS COUNTY (WINJET BEATS DECATUR TEAM Superior Size Too Much For Yellow Jackets To Overcome A big. bounding band of bellig-i erent, bruising Bears broke out ofj their Wells county lair Tuesday night at Ossian to batter out a; 47-34 win over a much smaller but * scrappy quintet of Decatur Yellow > Jackets. i For the first two periods the Jackets successfully bottled up the tall, rangy Bears, who have tasted defeat but once this season, only to see the Wells county .ads sud- 1 denly toss them in from all angles to pile up 20 points in a single third stanza. At the opening of the tilt. Neuenschwander scored from the side, which was quickly nullified by Andrews’ goal from out on the floor. Lipp scored underneath but Andrews again hit out on the floor. Shoe's free throw gave the Jackets the lead, 5-4, at the end of the first period. In the second stanza. Highland hit from under as Shoe. Highland and McConnell all hit free throws to trail 10-14 at half-time. Then the Bears “hit hot.” Reach- > ing over the heads ot their smaller opponents the Ossian five, with almost uncanny accuracy dropped them in from every place but the scorer’s bench, to lead by 16 points, 34-18 at the start of the final period. During the final period, the locals again tightened up and allowed the Bears but an increase of three points in their lead. Although never threatening after ! the start of the second halt, the Jackets showed much improvement since their game against, Berne last week, despite the sacti that they were playing against an unusually large and well-rounded quintet. PROBING DEATH OFTEU HEALY I Hollywood Officials Probe Death Os Popular Comedian Hollywood, Dec. 22 —(UP) — Ted Healy, ‘amout stage and screen comedian, died of heart disease and lung congestion, I with no evidence of Injuries i from foul play, Coroner F. A. Nance announced today after an autopsy. I Hollywood, Dec. 22 — (UP) — A ! thorough post mortem examination I of the body of Ted Healy, a happy I go-lucky vaudevillian and widely IMipular movie comedian, was ordered today. Authorities possessed • some evidence to indicate that his I death had not been due to natural! causes. Healy died suddenly yesterday and it was at first announced that death had been due to a "stroke.“ But his physician. Dr. Wyland Lamont. refused to sign a certificate 1 ! setting forth the cause of death. * He had found a large welt over! one eye. indicating that a severe blow administered by a person or I persons unknown might have been ' *at least a contributing factor ini his death. Authorities immediately began i an investigation. They found out first that last Friday. Healy's young wife gave birth to a son and that Sunday Healy had set out to celebrate. Sunday night, they learned, Heady had been seen in many of t Hollywood's best known drinking places, including the Trocadero, the Brown Derby, and Clara Bow's “IT" cocktail room. He talked long and loudly about the merits of his new son. Somewhere along his route, they surmised, another reveler, as yet i unidentified, objected. Healy and ! his self-appointed critic argued. I then fought. And Healy fell, with blood streaming from his temple. A doctor treated him for the wound, and. sobered, repentant and ashamed, he went home and said nothing about it. Monday he suffered one convulsion after another. There was frequent vomiting—all symptoms of a fractured skull or brain concussion. Finally, when a physician was brought in for the second time, it was too late. His young wife’s joy over birth ■■■■■nMHBKBNQB MORRIS PLAN LOANS on FURNITURE LIVESTOCK ELECTRIC STOVES REFRIGERATORS.
