The Jackets showed considerable improvement in scoring a victory over Portland last Friday, although it must be remembered Portland has been exceedingly weak this season, having failed to score a point. Traynor Signed Again To Manage Pirates Pittsburgh. Oct. 14. —<U.R> —Harold (Piel Traynor today signed a contract to manage the Pittsburgh Pirates ball club of the National league in 1938 and also revealed his first step in re-building the club. Joining the Pirates in 1920 as a i rookie third baseman. Traynor became manager of the Pittsburgh club in June. 1934. His first deal in rebuilding the' team was the purchase of outfield- , er John R.
