STATE G. 0. P. EDITORS MEET . Republican Editors Ot | State Meet At Brown County Park Brown County State Park. Ind.. Sept. 24.—(U.R> —The Indiana Republican Editorial Association met 1 here today ostensibly for a strictly business session but actually in j an atmosphere surcharged with po-I litical discussion about revamping i the G. O. P. for the 1938 campaign.. , Glenn Frank, former president ot j . the University of Wisconsin, will 1 i he the speaker at the editors' seasI ion this afternoon and Rep. Char-1 i les Halleck. Indiana’s only Repub ■' lican congressman, will talk to- j night. Other sessions are suppos ed to concern only Journalistic matters. However, John Taylor of Danville, state Republican chairman, told the United Press that he had | sent letters to each district chair- . man and vice-chairman, compro- ■ mising the 24 members of the state j committee, urging them to attend i the editors' meeting. Taylor himself said he would attend as has i been his custom for years. Since both Taylor and the major-; i ity of members of the state com-; mittee are currently in deep dis- ' favor with the editors, the asso- . | elation meeting today takes on the ,! complexion of a state Republican ■ I policy meeting. And the result probably will be ; that either the state committee members will need the admonition of the editors to clean house I thoroughly for the 1938 election or ; will enter the next campaign without the wholehearted support of i the editorial association. Taylor is expected to do a lot . 'of listening today and tomorrow , I morning. He was elected last month by the votes of only 12 members of the state committee—the majority faction headed by Ralph Gates of Columbia City of which 'Taylor is a member, although he did not vote for himself. The minorfty group headed by Ewing Emison of Vincennes declined to vote 1 at all. Consequently. Taylor said he will serve only until about Oct 1. when he said he would call anothier meeting of the state committee i either to affirm his election unanimously or select a new chairman. Taylor told the United Press today that he had not decided when he will call the state committee . into session, although his determination to do so was unchanged.
