July 1. ■'i: R) —Mrs. Lasca Luckett, niece ot » late Win Rogers, ia acting as stess and personal represent*e of tlie Rogers family at the ill Rogers Shrine of the Sun of leyenne mountain this summer. The shrine was built by Spenr Penrose, Colorado Springs oneer and friend of the late imorist. Frescoes depicting the pictorial .story ot the west, especially the kes Peak region, adorn the towof the shrine. The murals are e work* of Randall Davey. Later the summer a bronze bust of 'ill Rogers will be placet! in one ' the four rooms of the shrine, he bust ia being completed in aris by Jo Davidson. Next year lintings showing the highlights f Rogers’ life will be made and laced on the walls of the shrine. —Due to the fact that the shrine filled with valuable works of it will be opened only certain ours during the summer and the umber of visitors will be limited. Mrs. Luckett will conduct visi'"Sprs through the shrine, explain ae art work and give information bout the shrine, Will Rogers and .pencer Penrose, the builder. Mrs. Luckett’s mother, now dead, IMkas a sister of Will Rogers. A Mister of Rogers lives in Chelsea, Mrs. Tom McSpadden. Mrs N*Vill Rogers and her two sons, Will 5a r., and James, live in Hills and Santa Monica, Cal. Mary Rogers, its daughter, Is an actress. Many tourists who visit the thrine may discover that their lorjostaM is a familiar figure. Mrs. mckett was born in Chelsea, Okla , Send has lived in Collinsville, Homney, Okmulgee, Holdenville, Shaw see and Pawhuska. I First, however, he kissed the bride and then went down the] row of bridesmaids and kissed them. too. He proposed toasts to , the bride and to tin bridegroom and then, tnrning to his wife, projxised one for "mother Franklin. Jr., took up where his father left off. "On this, the happiest hour of my life," he said, I'd like to pro- | pose a toast to my wife, Mrs Roosevelt." She in turn proposed one "to my husband " Then John Roost velt. best man, propost d one to both after which everyone sang. "For they are jolly good fellows." The reception continued until the wee hours. The president did not leave the Im Pont home until 11:5'1 p.m. The newlyweds were with their guests as late as 11 p m. Perhaps the most laughable incident of the reception inside oceurred when someone proposed a toast to "all the Roosevelts and all the I>u Pouts." So many of those present belonged io one or | the other of the clans that there was hardly anyone else to rise and drink.
