Recipes and Suggestions on Attractive Ways of Serving Ice Cream

BAKED ALABKAS Something Just a little bit different for your afternoon luncheon la a baked Alaska, made as follows: Put a slice of vanilla ice cream on rather thick slices of sponge cake, a little wider than the portions of ice cream. Place on a board and cover completely with a meringue made with stiffly beaten egg whites and four tablespoons sugar. Set in a hot oven for a moment to brown the meringue, and serve. No, the ice cream won't melt, provided the oven is hot enough. BRUNCH SPECIAL Place a scoop of ice cream in a dessert dish. Pour over this any canned fruit with syrup. SOME day, my 111-mannered friend, you are going to go too far. You would not, for you’re just a grubb ? little inferiority complex who’s been sublimated by a shot of gasoline. And what’s the reason for this breakneck rush of yours, anyway? You’re in an automobile. You’ll arrive at your destination, 10, 15 or 20 times quicker than the pedestrian you’re crowding back onto the curb. The best he can do is five or six miles an hour. You are going 25 or 30, perhaps 40 miles an hour. Is your business ten times more urgent than his? My, my, what an importa 't fellow you are! What vast designs, what momentous projects must occupy your waking hours to justify such impatience. The automobile, it seems, is the devil’s gift to the Little Man. Put him in control of a motor car and he’s cock o’ the crosswalks. But if you suddenly yanked that ton or two of iron and steel out from under him, you’d find him just a measly nonentity with th* mental setup of a grammar school bully.

CHERRY ISLE Place a scoop of ice cream in a sherbet glass. Surround with whole maraschino cherries. Top with a dab of whipped cream which has been flavored with the juice of the cherries. HONEY BEE SUNDAE Pour a heaping tablespoon of honey over a scoop of ice cream. Sprinkle cocoanut over this -and serve. DONUT DELIGHT Place donut in dessert dish and cover with chocolate or maple syrup. Lay a scoop of ice cream on top of this and ipour more syrup over. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. FRENCH FRUIT SUNDAE Place a scoop of ice cream in a dessert dish. Cover with a lade! of French fruits (candied cherries. , pineapple, citron, orange peel, lemon peel, etc., to which a bit ~>t ; simple syrup has been added). Serve with very plain cookies.
