COMMIESJEAT OHIO QUINTET TUESDAY NIGHT — Commodores Score Decisive 34-18 Victory Over Celina (By Pete Reynolds) Taking the lead early in th»» | game and staying out in front all the way, the Decatur Commodoresj scored their sixth victory of the 1 season Tuesday night at the local I gym. defeating Catholic high from] Celina, Ohio. 34 to IS. The Commodores, continuing to I show the improvement noticeable; in their last three games, handled the ball well, passed accurately and played good defensive ball. Two field goals by Hess and free throws by Baker and Hess gave the. Commodores six points before I Kessen registered for Celina from I underneath. Decatur added three I more points to lead at the end of the first quarter. 9 to 2. The invaders played the Com- i mies on even terms during the see-1 ond quarter, with Decatur out in front 18-4 at the intermission. Kessen connected on a one-hand-ed shot from the foul line and DePrato hit from the side of the floor to pull Celina within two points at 14-12. but the Commodores soon i pulled away to lead by 2214 at I the third quarter. Celina scored only tour points ■ in the entire fourth quarter, both . field goals tallied by Winklejohn. while the Commodores added 12 > points to score a decisive victory. LOCAL SECONDS DEFEAT WABASHi IN FINAL CAME Yellow .Jacket Reserves Win Four-Team Tourney, 28-21 Stacking up an Impregnable defense which held the opponents without a single point throughout 'the entire second half, the Yellow Jacket second team Tuesday night I won the championship game of the .four-team reserve tourney, defeat ing the Wabash seconds, 28 to 21. The final round of the tourney was played at Huntingtoil. In the consolation game, the Huntington ! seconds defeated the Lagro reserv- ! es. 33 to 12. ! First round games, played at: Wabash Tuesday, January 12. saw Decatur defeating laigro, 25 to 11. and Wabash defeating Huntington. 32 to 22. After a close first quarter, which i ended in a 6-6 tie. the Wabash see onds, paced by McClintic, husky guard, stepped out to a 21-15 lead lat the end of the first half.
