Tonight, at the Yellow Jacket gymasium, the Jackets will battle their chief rivals, the Bears from Berne. An overflow crowd is in prospect. —oOo — The Bears have wolf six out of seven games and the Yellow Jackets five out of six. Berne's only loss has been to Hartford City, while Decatur has lost only to LaPorte. The Jackets will likely be weakened tonight, as Hurst, veteran center, probably wil# not be able j to play. Hurst suffered an attack I of appendicitis during the game at I LaPorte two weeks ago and is not in good condition as yet. How- ‘ ever, the Jackets showed real scrap I last week to come from behind to' defeat North Side, and Hurst I wasn't even in the lineup. -oOo — 'Tis quite apparent the Jackets | must stop Dro to head off the Bears tonight. Dro has scored a total of 104 points in seven games, an average of 14.8 points per game. A pretty fair record, and a tough ( boy to stop. While the Jackets are battling the Bears, the Decatur Commodores will be on the road, traveling to Lima. Ohio, i Striking New DRESSES Lovely To ■ Look At! Delightful To Wear! to tangle with St. John’s. The Commies defeated St. John's in the season opener, 35 to 16. but the Lima outfit will be | tough to take on their own floor, which is small, with a low ceiling. —oOo — The Commodores lost a tough one at the Kirkland Kangaroos last night at the local gym. However, the result should provide the boys 1 with a good lesson, showing them ! that to lose the old thinker is us- . ually fatal in a ball game, whether iit be over bad breaks or tough iluck. — oOo — They tell us Nelson Eaton, the | Kirkland coach, was having a scatching good time last night. Eaton has a bad case of the hives. From Ed Liechty of the Berne Witness: “As you mighf expect, the Decatur Yellow Jackets were here enmasse Tuesday night. They saw I a swell ball game and admitted it. I Worst of the thing is they also I fortified themselves for Friday night’s classic at Decatur. Weil, they might turn the trick but they’ll have plenty on hands if -he Bears go like they did last night. That's just a guess on our part because, after all. we have not seen Pete Reynold's Yellow Jackets in .action this year. Sa take what we i said only for what it is worth.” 0 — — FLOOR SHOW — RIVERVIEW GARDENS SATURDAY NIGHT Presenting 3 Shows Each one a different act. ALSO—6-piece Band Friday and Saturday.
