He found Benda in the living room, killed him with a shot through the head. Mrs. Benda started to rise from her! chair. She was shot' before she got to her feet, and died on the way to a hospital. He then went to keep his rendezvous with Gallagher and was so ! calm that Gallagher never suspect-, ed that anything had happened. [ Before he was returned to jail,' Sullivan said, he wanted to stop by and see Mrs. Laura Bacon, 53,1 a social service worker who had testified against him. Gallagher agreed to accompany him to her home. Mrs. Bacon opened her door. A bullet clashed through her chest. The horrified Gallagher disarmed Sullivan, who offered no resistance, and, on the way to jail, met practically all the Duquesne force which had spread through the' district looking for the slayer. o COURT HOUSE Estate Cases A petition to determine the Inheritance tax was filed in the estate of Hila Burkhart.
