FIELD AGENT |! HEBE MAY Unemployment Compen- j sation Division Agent ' To Be Here Friday Adams county employers with H questions concerning the Indiana j unemployment compensation law' ’ will have an opportunity to obtain |i assistance here Friday, December J 4, when John 11. Brooks field agent |< for the state unemployment com- | pensatlon division, will be station-!’ ed at the local auto license branch. ' it was announced today by Dee 1j Fryback, branch manager. |< Indiana employers of eight or i more persons have been subject ' to contributions of 1.2 per cent of ' payrolls for the unemployment | fund since April 1. Reports, to- i gether with payments of contribu- . tions, are due by the 20th of each ’ month, covering payrolls for the ' preceding month. 1 Contributions made under the | Indiana law are to be deducted ‘. from a federal unemployment pay ! roll tax due by January 31, 1937, ' on 1936 pay rolls of employers of; | eight or more persons. Up to - nine-tenths of the federal tax may I be deducted if this amount has j been contributed to the state unemployment fund. The Indiana pay roll rate of 1.2 per cent for the nine months after April 1, 1936, will on the average, equal ninetenths of the federal tax of 1 per cent for the full year. Warning has been received from the division, however, that under the federal law contributions to the state fund may be deducted) only if the contributions have been I made prior to the time the federal tax becomes due. Thus, it was explained, an employer who has not made his contributions to the Indiana fund before January 31, will be required to pay not only the full state contribution hut also may have to pay the entire federal pay roll tax without deductions. During 1936, contributions are required under the Indiana unemployment compensation law only from employers. In 1937, employers subject to the law will contribute 1.8 per cent and employees .9 of 1 per cent of wages. Benefits will be paid to eligible unemployed persons after April 1, 1938. o • * STAR SIGNALS I — BY—l— OCTAVINE 1 Foh persons who netleve that human destniy is guided by the planet, the daily b'-roseope is outlined by a noted astrologer.
