The final home game ot the season! —oOo— Decatur’s Yellow Jackets will play their lilial home game of the season Friday night, meeting the’ powerful Archers from South Side of Fort Wayne at Wort liman Field —oOoThe opening kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 but may be delayed a few minutes to permit fans to witness both the Callithumpian parade and the football game. —oOo— Friday night will mark not only the final home game of the season but also the final northeastern Indiana conference tilt for the Yeb low Jackets. —o()o- — South Side showed surprising strength last week by scoring a 13-12 victory over the North Side ' Redskins. North Side had been .1 the heavy favorite to cop the Fort Wayne cijy series but South Side rallied in the second half to eke out the one-point triumph. —oOo — The Yellow Jackets, still showing the effects of the battering received from North Side, suffered their first conference defeat in three years Friday night, losing to Columbia City. —oOo— With the Columbia City defeat last week. Decatur's hopes for a third straight conference championship went glimmering. However. Decatur still has a chance at a tie for the title if successful in repelling the South Side invasion Friday night. Barring further injuries in practice sessions this week, the Jackets should be in the best physical condition for several weeks for the South Side contest. —oOo— One game remains on the Decatur schedule after the South Side tilt. The Jackets will tangle with Central Catholic at Fort Wayne Friday afternoon. November 6, in the final contest of the' 1936 season. —oOo— Central Catholic has a greatly improved team this year, and will be plenty tough for the Jackets to end (the season with a victory. C. C. trounced the Garrett Railroaders last week. 33 to 6. and apparently have plenty of offensive power. —oOo — Football may be the nation's sport at the present time, but in Adams county all eyes are turned toward King Basketball. Practically every rural high school in the county will open the 1936-37 season next week. —oOo— Under a ruling adopted by the Indiana high school athletic association this year, no high school games are permitted before November 1. A wise ruling, yet many critics and fans feel that the season still runs entirely too long for the average athlete of high school age. Both Decatur teams will open the season two weeks from Friday. Hfcidentally. that date is Friday the 13th, but the so-called “jinx" • day apparently holds no terrors for the Commodores and Yellow YOU CAN w GET MONEY HERE Some people seem to think • there's a lot of red tape and delay in malting a personal loan. More than $110,000,000 was spent on the transmission line bridging the mountains between and an army of 1.000 men were employed for three years on the project. Los Angeles and vicinity, in addition to the benefits of cheaper power, will soon have the advantage of unlimited and economical water supply Work is now being rushed on a giant aqueduct which will make irrigation practical for thousands of farmers m southern California. Some conception of the significance which Boulder dam has for the west coast region is evident when it is considered that the project will generate more power than Muscle Shoals and the Niagara Falls power plants combined.
