Charter Member of The Indiana League of Home Dailies. It is not only your right, that; you vote this year, but a duty you owe yourself, your community and your state. Perhaps we have talked so much about peace that Spain and other foreign nations want to see what we will do if I hey pick on us. The summer is nearing its close but remember you will have a couple of months of early autumn that is in every way more delightful. Italy is getting ready for a world war, mobilizing eight million men. fully equipped for every kind of fighting. Os course when they get that they will issue orders to other countries and back them up. That’s the surest way to get into a scrap. Sixteen hundred, twins, triplets’ and quadruplets met at Fort Wayne Sunday to talk things over, have
a good time and renew old acquaintances. The organization has been in existence five or six years and the membership and attendance grows each year. The Indiana State Fair will open next Saturday with the finest program ever offered in the middle west. If you enjoy good races, a great horse show, a thousand features, an exhibit in of live stock, machinery, automobiles and a visit with old friends and new ones, join the crowd. Are you correctly registered'.' Have you married, moved or be-1 come of age during the past two 1 years? If so its up to you to go to the county clerks office and see that you are duly plated oil record. so you can have a ballot when you call for tC on November 3rd. ——— President Roosevelt is not talking politics in his western tour, that not being the purpose of the trip, regardless of accusations made by a partisan and unfair press. He Is trying to serve his people and will do all he can to aid those who have been so badly injured by the recent drought. The state police are watching for those who disregard speed signs in small uuiucorported towns. Many arrests have been made and this will continue until the drivers of automobiles realize that the state is in earnest in its efforts to

reduce accidents. 11' you are in a t hurry, you may save time and expense by obeying the signs as you enter small towns. Another long list of weekend > accidents, due to reckless driving ( and we rush right along, taking hills and curves at sixty to seventy miles an hour, seeing how fast we : can travel from one point to another, with nothing particular to > do when we get there, except wait for time to pass. That cool wave was to .remind us that its time to get Ute furnace in condition, the fuel bin tilled, the doors and windows weather stripped and such other things as are necessary by those who wisely prepare for winter. There Is no reason to expect mild weather in this country in the winter, regardless of the fact that we have just come through the hottest summer on record. Steel reaches six year high, new 1936 high on U. S. bonds, cattle feeders in come back, railroad stocks lead forward push on stocks, are a few of the mans headlines to be found on the financial pages of leading Republican newspapers Now turn to the front or editorial ' pages and read how the nation is going to the dogs and the advice; to turn Roosevelt out and put the I untried Landon in. It's a case where two and two certainly don't make four. M. Clifford Townsend sounded ' his keynote at French Lick and it was a master piece, so sound that the- partisan opposing press hasn't yet found any thing to find fault over, excepting that he did not flail Greenlee and McKinney, who opposed him in the primary and he found good things to say about Governor McNutt and his splendid administration. Mr. Townsend is honest and fearless, says what he believes and stands on the merits
■I of his platform and policies. He is i safe and will give the people of 11 Indiana a good administration. Mrs. Rhodes, better known as Ruth Bryan, has resigned as minister to Denmark, and will devote the next several months in cam paigmng for Roosevelt. She is one of the most effective political ora tors and organizers in the country and will do much good for her party. She was the headliner here four years ago at a big rally held in Berne and it is probable that when she tours Indiana she will i be brought here for a return en- 1 gagement, much to the pleasure and benefit of the voters. • STAR SIGNALS —BY— I OCTAVINE l For persons who oelteve that human destniy Is guided by the planet, the daily boroscope is outlined by a noted astrologer.
