DECATUR DAILY DEMOCRAT MONDAY, JULY 27, 1936.

DECATUR ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO a band of sturdy pioneers settled on this spot to make their home. To them, it was the finest place on earth. Without a doubt their keen judgement and foresight was correct. They entertained hopes and dreams that those who were to follow after them would have the courage and determination to continue their efforts and build for a great city —a city worthy of the name of the great Ameriban naval officer for whom they named it — STEPHEN DECATUR. » We’re proud of those gallant and brave men who founded Decatur. We’re proud of the name DECATUR. Their determination and hardships has made for all of us a wonderful place which to call home. We hope we—the citizens of Decatur have carried on as the founders would have w anted us to. During Centennial Week we pay our respects and honor to them for their noble deeds. 1 • 1 Mt 4 ■ 3 ■' g ■ j 3 ‘JI « ' L -I- •g' ! - * -l- «& 1 I"1 " "'V f ‘ A J** • V • I The Mutschler Packing Co.
