FIVE DETROIT COPS £ON TINCEp FKoM pAQ£ONE) characterised as "a vicious influence on the morale of the department." He warned that all officers who have knowledge of the legion 1 or its activities “had better tell about it at once." It was disclosed that the police officers first were implicated in black legion activities when mem bership files of the Detroit headquarters were seized. Officials declined to say whether preliminary investigation had indicated more than five were active in the robed and hooded night riders. In Indianapolis Indianapolis. May 28. — (UR) — Evidence of “blues legion" activity in Indianapolis was disclosed by I the Times today in a copyrighted story. Notes interpreted as membership blanks and bearing markings similar to documents ibund in De'troll, where the activity of the terrorist organization first became I known, were published by the Times. j The nottes were found attached to doorknobs of two near north side apartments, the Times said. Duncan Mcßae, persecutor of Wayne county, Michigan, was notified of the findings and told the Times he would ask the department of justice to investigate immediately. One note was printed on pink bond paper, bore the lettering, “black legion membership” at the top and had spaces for filling in the age, name and address of the applicant. Below was an oath: “In the name of God and the ; devil I will stand up to the black . legion. 1 will follow out my orders and will abide by the laws of the black legion. Never shall I betray its secrets or its ex-mem-1 bets. Death is the penalty for I breaking of a law or its oath.” At Fort Wayne Michigan City, Ind., May 28 - LOANSS Your Signature Only No One Else Need Sign Loans on plain note — also on furniture, auto and livestock.
