swings in at intervals with the sama words, but in a lower or higher octave and adding runs of pure emotional beauty and minor chords. Cab also moves around a good htt when he sings and makes his style more effective by his physical gyrations and bendings of the body accompanied by facial movements. And what about the Duke? The difference between the two boys’ physical appearance provides a clue to the differences in the results of their baton waving. Duke Ellington is taller than Cab and presents a smoother appearance, although not more elegant. Contrast in Characters His hair is worn smoothly, while Cab’s seems a little rougher in texture and does not lie quite as flat, i Cab’s hair shows a tendency to curl, i Thus by their hair you shall know ■ their music and figuratively speaki ing. Cab’s hair is swingy. while the i Duke’s is smooth and lustrous, and i each hair is in its proper place. Duke Ellington's music is smooth and evenly flowing, and while Cab makes no bones about bringing the i emotional element present In all ; Negro spirituals to the surface, Duke . Ellington restrains them, but lets I them give body to his music in I something of a sub-rosa fashion. So the answer to the controversy t is simply that they play end sing t and direct the way they do simply t because they have to and couldn’t do ' any differently without stepping out 1 of character. Cab says "swing music" is merely , a modern term for "hot music’’ and 1 Duke just looks at him and laughs, i but retains bls very suave manner

While the system has obvious advantages, it fails, in the opinion of Dr. Thomas Parran, Jr., new surgeon general of United States public health service, to meet the financial problems of the modern doctor. Dr. Parran advocates an extension of federal service in the medical field, leaving active management of the program t» the physicians. He would provide free drugs and treatment for all who could not pay, the cost to be borne by the government, but would continue private practice wherever possible.
