Commodores To Play In National Catholic Me»
DECATUR TEAM TO COMPETE IN NATIONAL MEET Commodores Will Play First Game Thursday Afternoon The Decatur Commodores will leave some time Wednesday for Chicago, where they will compete with 31 other teams in the 13th annual National Catholic interscholastic basketball tournament Ixiyola university. An invitation to the tourney was received late Saturday evening and immediate acceptance was filed. Two other Indiana teams are also competing. St. Mary's of Anderson, state Catholic champion. and Memorial of Evansville, runners-up in the state tourney two weeks ago. Practice sessions were held all' last week by Coach George Laur-' ent. in anticipation of a possible hid to the tourney and the Commodores should be in good condition for their game. Braden, who suffered a.n injured arch in the , state tourney, is reported recovering rapidly and will be able to take part in the meet. The Commodores will play their first game at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, meeting Holy Family of Union City, New Jersey. Union City has a record of 20 victories without a defeat this season.
