Fort Wayne HOLC Head Meets Strange Death Marion, Ind.. Dec. 19. — (U.R) — John Meiboom. 63, Fort Wayne, assistant district munuger ot the Home Owners Loan Corporation, was the victim of a strange automobile accident here late yesterday. As the accident wus reconstructed. the door flew open on Melboom's automobile as he drove on state road 9. four miles north of here. He lost control in trying to close the door, and the machine swerved into a farmyard where a tree tore the door off. Meiboom presumably tell from the open door and was run over and injured fatally by n rear wheel. Q Contents Os Jug Are Disputed By Owner Bloomington, Ind.. Dec. 19.—<U.R) —Possession of a jug ot liquor which he contended was only apple cider, today had cost Charles Pemberton, 30. his freedom from a 60-day sentence on the penal farm. Circuit Judge Donald A. Rogers revoked a suspended sentence when be refused to believe Pemberton's story that the jug did not contain liquor. The jug was broken in a scuffle with police who went to Pemberton’s home to arrest him for a liquor-law violation. Pemberton's wife is charged with illegal possession of unstamped liquor. Fort Wayne Surgeon Dies Wednesday A.M. — Fort Wayne, Ind., Dec. 19.—tU.R) -Dr. Budd Van Sweringen, 68, physician and surgeon of Fort Wayne for the last 44 years who died yesterday morning of apoplexy, will be buried Friday. The physician died after an illness of several months. Surgeon tor tile Pennsylvania railroad here since 1912, Dr. Van Sweriugen was a member of the . city council from 1910 to 1914, a professor <57 theory and practice ot medicine at the former Fort Wayne medical college for 10 years, and served as a major in the surgical service of the U.
