Radio waves may provide a solution for the problem, Chauncey B. Wightman, AAA representative for Hawaii, told the United Press. Wightman outlined p'ans for a campaign to eradicate the pest by application of high frequency radio 1 to the infested fruit. Scientists contend that high frequency radio 'waves will desroy the larvae whether it is active or dormant. Howes Although the Blue Eagle, the NRA emblem, is officially dead, San Francisco merchants are keeping it alive. A co-operative league, called the San Francisco Fair Play league, and composed of retail merchants, was launched six weeks ago and today has a membership of more than 20,000 sales people under NRA conditions. Tho merchants signed an agreement to continue the wage scale and working hours in effect early this year. Other cities have sent in inquiries regarding the plan. Meanwhile, the postoffice department in Washington, D. C., has been directed by W. W. Howes, assistant postmaster general, to remove all NRA material from the bulletin boards, that re-employment agreements, certificates and similar materials be forwarded to state heads, and “all other NRA material be destroyed or disposed of in the waste basket’’.
