The mayor offers a large sum of money to anyone who would rid the village of the menace. The Magic Piper, played by Rex Ileare, enters and offer*, by means of a secret charm, to rid tihem of the rats in return for payment. He pipes a lively tune and the rats follow him ucross the bridge and into the> river. When the piper retu:oe to oollect. he us defied by the mayor and the people. He then decides to repay the people for their Ingratitude and again pipes a tune and all the children of the village follow ftiim across the bridge and into the mou

The second net opens inside the mountain where the children are t very happy with the Piper, who eutertalns them witli stories and pipt* for them to dance, in the meantime, mayor and i.iis councilmen have secured the amount of money the Piper requested to rid the village of the rats, niwl direct the town crier to announce that the Piper should return and he would receive the money.
