NINE PUPILS IN DISTRICT MEET Nine From Adams County Entered In District Latin Contest Bloomington, Ind., March 21. — (Special) — Nine Adams county high school pupils will be entered in the district meet of the annual state high school Latin contest to be held next Sat unlay, March 23. Winners of the district meets throughout the state will be eligible to compete in the final state meet April 5 at Indiana university. Miss Clara Reppert, of Decatur. Is chairman of the contest in Adams couuU'. Adams county pupils competing in the district meet next Saturday are as follows: Thomas Andrews. Dwight Kimble. Robert Coffee and Marie Grether, Decatur; Eloise Christy, Monroe, and Clara Gable, Berne. Alternates are Peggy Staley, Faye Martin, and Jack Grether. Decatur. This year's contest, which is the twelfth annual state high school | Latin tourney conducted by the | Indiana university extension division, is divided into the following four divisions: I —pupils who will complete first year Latin at the end of the second semester of the current year; II —pupils who will complete second year Latin at the end of either semester; Hl—pupils who will complete Cicero at the end of either semester, and IV—pupils who will complete Vergil at the end of either semester. County contests In Divisions I and 11, in which winners of the local meets participated, were held Feb. 23. In Divisions 111 and IV no county contests were held. I “Money Thrower” Is Released By Police Battle Creek. Mich., March 21 — (UP)—Mrs. Isabel McHie, estranged wife of a Hammond, Ind., publisher. apparently recovered from an attack of hysteria, today threatened legal action unless police returned to her $173,000 and a small fortune in jewels. The cash was found in an envelope on the station (platfom. there yesterday when Mrs. McHie was removed from a train and taken to Leila Post Montgomery hospital. The ip?wels, variously estimated to be worth from SIOO,OOO to $500,000, were found in her luggage. Police chief Hugh Goodman said he was holding the cash and jewels

(U.R) — First blooms were seen this month rising from some of the 75,000 flowering bulbs planted in a newly arranged iris garden at Duke University here. The plot will eventually be one of the South’s most beautiful gardens. During ten months of preparation. 40.000 iris bulbs were planted, 25,000 daffodils, and 10,000 small bulbs.
