Sixteen sectional winners gathered at Terre Haute for the opening round of the finals of the Wabash valley play today. Lyons, the favorite, will meet Gibault of Vin- < -nnes in its first game. Other first round pairings are Swftx City vs. Oaktown. Honey l'reek vs. Marshall. 111.. Marshall. Ind . vs. Hugger, defending champion. Spencer vs. Garfield (Terre Haute >, Cloverdale vs. Graysville. Logansport, state champion and leader in the north central conference by a half a game, will defend its position against the secondplace Jexerson team at Lafayette tonight. Other games In the conference tonight are Frankfort at Richmond, Muncie at Newcastle and Kokomo at Anderson. Emerson of Gary, leader in the western division of the northern Indiana conference, must defeat Hammond at Gary tonight and Horace Mann tomorrow night to protect its advantage. Washington, Froebel and Valparaiso are pressing Emerson for the lead Washington entertains Roosevelt tonight and Valparaiso tomorrow night. Froebel plays at Hammond tomorrow night. " "■ o CENTRAL TEAM LOSES, 21-17 Harrison Hill Team Os Fort Wayne Defeats Locals Thursday Weakening in the final minutes of the game, the Decatur Central eighth grade team was defeated by the Harrison Hill junior high team from Fort Wayne Thursday afternoon at the local gym, 21 to 17. The quintets were tied at 9-9 at the half. Andrews was the scoring leader for Central with three field goals. McConnell was the only other local player to obtain more than one field goal.
