Oct. 12.— (U.K) —Still jittery from last week’s debacle, a score of important football teams pick up their gridiron tools tomor-j row and move into new fields, with 1 several of last Saturday's surviv- j ors having an excellent prospect of being planted in boot hill before. the sun sets. The two principal targets and possible victims of hangovers from last week will be Pitt Panthers and ' Stanford on the Pacific coast. Pitt, 1 unbeaten this year, enterains a highly irked collection of young man from southern California, who were plastered last week by Wash- ’ ington State in the worst beating they have suffered since the late I Knute Rockne's last great team! knocked them off in 1930. Northwestern, beaten last week, j invades Stanford stadium at Palo I Alto, thirsty for some sort of re- | dress of their grievances. The Cards, although tied by Santa Clara! have not been beaten this 1 year and are favored to win. Two beaten giants c!>wh in the mid.west-Purdue and Notre Dame. They were two of the most eminent j victims of last week's tornado. In-1 diana, victim of Ohio State’s pond . erous crusher, leaves big ten enI vlrons for Philadelphia to try out Pop Warner’s tricky set-up at j Temple. Only two games affect Big Ten i standings—Chicago and Michigan, and Illinois and Ohio State. The Wolverines, although upset last j week in another of the upheavals, i should take the Maroons and the Buckeyes ought to wrap up Bob Zuppke’s lllini. Oregon and Washington clash in ! the major Pacific coast conference I game, with the Webfooters expect-1 led to win. C. C. I, A. meets Mon-1 j tana in the breather. California j ] will tackle what should be a set- ' | up—Alonzo Stagg's little college of i ithe Pacific. ° '• BOXING BOUTS AT LOCAL CLUB Decatur A.
