The state commitee contends that Townsend cannot serve as lieutenant governor because he wa s I named commissioner of agriculture l by Gov. Paul V. McNutt in the I Democratic reorganization act of i 1933. The Republican state convention I last June nominated Joseph D. Kyle of Gary as lieutenant governor. Further difficulties were encountered by the Republican state committee when Judge Cox also announced he would disqualify himself in a suit tiled by E. Curtis White, state senator from Marion county, and John Bridgbt Webb, joint senator from Marion and Johnson counties. White and Webb seek to enjoin the county board of election commissioners from placing the names of candidates for their positions on the November election ballots. Both are Democratic holdover senators. The G. O. P. county committee contends their places in the senate (are vacant because both accepted positions on the state board of agriculture. The committee, by petition, seeks to place the names of Ralph Kane for senator and Will H. Adams for joint senator, on the ticket. . o i PLEAD GUILTY GRAND LARCENY (CONTINUED FROM PAGE ONE) carried by the thieves caused a blow out and the thieves purchased a new set of tires from a local deal er.
