Huey Long’s nickname should be i changed to “Gangster.” The way to put men on the pay- j roll is to give them work. ] Let's got busy organise a re* building and remodeling campaign. < The old saying is true —the way ' to cure unemployment is by giving employment. Yon might skip down and look at the coal pile. The rest ot the country would 1 like to see Louisiana purge itself of Huey Long. Down at Greencastle they went from drouth to deluge, receiving < 5.92 inches of rain in a few hours. : it will be remembered that Sen- , ator Robipson was not a shining light in a Republican congress. fundamental and far-r caching movement under way today.’ I—Atlantic City Union. Gut of a possisble 45 and a half million voter*, the election in Germany Sunday brought out 43 and a half million votes, which figured down Is about 95 per cent of all eligible. Hitler received 88.1 per cent of the vote* cast which wa« about five per cent less than ho received In the election last November. The people turn out to vote over there and no doubt are vitally interessted in what's going on. It looks like the federal government is not going to fool with criminals ot the Al Capone type. Yesterday two car loads of the convicts were gathered up and escorted to Alcatraz penitentiary, known as America’s new “Devils Island”, out in the Pacific. The encouraging thing about it is that Capone is not going to be released after serving a minimum sentence, he still having an eightyear stretch ahead of him. The government says if you are eligible, you need not worry about the money required to repair your house, business building or farm property. Through local banks loans can be obtained, the government guaranteeing the lender against loss. The loans can be repaid within three years at low rate of interest and by spending money now you give employment and start the wheels of industry. Get interested and help do your part. One of America's great statesmen, Henry T. Rainey, speaker of the national house of congress is , dead. He died on the eve of his < 74th birthday. Born and reared in Illinois, Mr. Rainey served nearly 30 years in congress and since 1933 held the responsible and pow- . erful position of speaker. He was a farmer and was interested in farm legislation. He was an authority in tariff matters and his laadership in the last two sessions proved his ability as a master of parliamentary proceedings. He was loved aud admired by all who knew him and his sudden death removes . one of the true patriots of the nation. o RESOLUTIONS We, the committee appointed to prepare a tribute of respect in 'memory of our 'beloved member of the Uni n Township Woman's Club Bertha Spuller, who departed from our midst July 32, 1934, eko hereby respectfully submit the following, Resolved, That whereas it has pleased our Heavenly 'Father to remove from us one of our highly esteemed charter members, that we extend our heartfelt symipathy to her fee- 1 reaved family and os an egression of cur h ving remembrance these resolution* be read at the next regular 'afeeting of our club.
