Charter Member of The Indiana League of Home Dailies. pollar Day in Decatur was a success. Merchants report good business and customers were pleased; These events occasionally are good for the community. They claim now that Dillinger Is hehded tor the Pacific coast with the federal officers hot on his trail. It will be alright with most Hoosiers it they keep him going so fast he dashes right on into the Pacific. The Republicans declare the New Deal is the issue. Well, the Democrats never expected or wanteiHt to be any thing else. So lets go as soon as the weather lets up a It requires a lot of partisanship to* place anj' emphasis on what Pierpont and Makley and their attorneys jsay about Indiana politics, but the News-Sentinel has the necessary nerve, if that's what it is. tSan Francisco will think they are having another earthquake if Hwy don't get their strike settled soon. Those engaged in this battla seem to be of the variety that rajse heck and they seem about to go in earnest. The state of Indiana collected oijjer $32,000,000 in taxes the past y?ar as compared to about $13,000,oW> the previous year, which is thei answer to why this was one of three states in the Union which kept thq. schools going. 1: will be a disappointment if Jthnes A. Earley in his address at Imlianapolis this evening fails to p*y his respects to Artie Robinsen. senior senator from Indiana who was voted "the senator who ceuld most easily be dispensed with in Washington.’’ Down town Decatur looked like a 'Saturday yesterday, with cars parked every where and hundreds of people carrying packages of merchandise as a result of the Dollar Day specials in almost every store. It pays to keep alive and advertise. The Democratic convention here tonight will bring a lot of the workers from over the county together, and that's always a good thing. There is one sure fact this year and that is the Democrats are igi'ressive and prepared to put up a- splendid fight against their opponents. That means victory in November. A fine attitude of R. Earl Peters, runner-qp tor the senatorial nomination, should and will put him in the highest regard of every member of his party. His expense reUku shows the recent campaign dost him $9,500 but he look defeat <iih a smile and is already out to help Sherman Minton win the November battle. That's being game and most people like that in any man.

Jim Farley, capable and admired leader of the Democrats of the nation is the honored guest of Indiana this afternoon and evening. His address at seven o'clock to- i night will be broadcast and should be heard by those interested in the , progress of the administration which within little more than a year has made much progress, | Sherman Minton, candidate for United States senator will be the headliner on the banquet program at the meeting of the Indiana Democratic Editorial Association to be held at French Lick Springs hotel, August 10th and 11th. Need- j less to tell you, it will be an address worth while by the man who is to succeed the present senior senator. About every one who thinks in a clean and wholesome manner favors the campaign now in progress to stop the showing of indecent love pictures. Producers may argue that the box offices do better but they perhaps overlook the fact that millions remain away from the show houses because each time they have happened to attend they are given a sex show so rotten that it leaves a bad taste for weeks. Decatur is the best town of its size in the country, measured by any rule and you may check up on that statement after comparing conditions here with those any where. We are going to build forty-eight houses here the next ninety days and that's something few cities much larger can boast of. And the houses will all be occupied and without any notice--1 able vacancies of other residences, because we need the extra facilities. ' The Chicago Tribune. John W. Davis and few others claim to bo 1 alarmed lest this country goes “red.” Ot course these agencies stand for the old system of letting the rich alone and making the poor and the middle class pay. Re1 gardless of what they think or say, every one knows the general conditions are much better than a 1 t year ago and will continue to support those who are actually trying 9 to serve the people, regardless of e whether they call them red, black, j w-hite, blue or pink. a — ' oGet the Habit — Trade at Home
