Charter Member of The Indiana League of Home Dailies. John Dillinger may be smart but so tar he has not been able to furnish the 360,000 bond that will free his "moll" from the law. The- meanest man in Buffalo has 1 been located. His sister wanted i dowers to decorate the house for a j bridge party, so Leo Gajewski went ■ to Pine Hill cemetery and remov- ■ ed several bunches from a newly ' made grave. Out in Washington they sent Lee ; Braden to jail eleven months tor I a holdup afterwards confessed by another man. The state gave the wronged man 31,000. That would scarcely pay the bill for the aver age good American citizen. —„ Warn the youngsters about skating and riding their bicycles on the streets. Os course they have rights there but that doesn't make much difference after a car. driven by some wild eyed man has run them down'. It's always better to be overly careful than tareless. R. Earl Peters, one of the leading candidates for the Democratic nomination for United States senator claims 1.456 delegates, which is some three hundred more than is necessary. The difficulty perhaps will be to convince his opponents of the fact. Three weeks from today the ~z primary contests will be on. The next twenty-one days will be busyones. with the candidates on the hustle day and night. They have the right to present their claims to you and you of course should decide as you feel is best for your city and county. Occasionally we hear a rumor intended to injure this or that candidate. Remember its easy to start stories and to make them ten times worse as they travel from ear to ear.. If you hear something about your favorite, be sure to make such investigation as will convince you as to the truth or untruth of it. Keep the primaries clean.

Every one l» anxious to get at the clean up job and nothing Is more Important for the community than that thia be done generally , Get the yard cleared of Its winter debris, gather up the cans and place them where they can be | easily secured by the truck drtvI ers. Help make this years job the best ever conducted here. The Gridiron club in Washington dissected the New Deal after one year and took some hot shots at a number of those in charge, but through it all could be read the conviction that if it hadn't been for the NRA and the other divisions of the new deal, most of them would probably not have been among those present. Now a great ado is being made because of an alleged examination of Col. Lindbergh regarding the air mail situation, but we haven't I been able to figure what the terrible wrong was. Surely if the matter was worth looking into. It was well that the authorities should interview the colonel who has certainly had considerably to do with the business. Those who have signed NRA ■ codes where some expense is nec- ' essary to maintain rules and regui lations and prices, must pay their . share or be deprived of the benefits lof the Blue Eagle, which seems fair enough. There is no reason we know of why some should carry the load and the others go free. I That would be the worst kind of , chisseling. Spring is here and summer on the way. The people are buying "> their goods and those merchants i who are awake are realizing the I nicest trade they have enjoyed in years. We appeal to tne local met chants to awaken and to do their share to inspire buyers. That's what makes a healthy and prosper- 1 ous community. Decatur is going forward and those alive will keep i with the procession while the others MU behind. Everett C Watkins. Washington correspondent for the Indianapolis Star has discovered by some keyhole method that the government is . quietly securing options on properties in Indianapolis that they may dispose of the ugly tenement section and replace them with modern apartments.. Watkins says the 1 agents do not want it known as that might cause values to jump up but he feels evidently he is doine a favor to those whose money is thus invested to put them wise. Os course its a matter of opinion, but to the average upstate citizen who visits the capitol city frequently, it would tie a wonderful improvement to replace the old shacks. The improvement would give work to many and it would seem, ought to deserve the approval of public -pinted citizens. o Gospel Temple Harley Ward, Superintendent The services at the Gospel Temple will ibe held at the home of Charley Ward near Belmont Park tonight at 7:30 o’clock. Thursday , night services at Mrs Mary Steel's home on Belmont road. A brother from Fort Wayne will bring the messages at both services.
