PURDUE AGAIN CHAMPIONS IN BIG TEN RACE Boilermakers Defeat Wisconsin To Clinch Big Ten Title Chicago, Feb 2* U,P Tin- BitTon baskethall title belonged to Purdue today for the third time In live years. The Boilermakers clinched the championship last night by defeating Wisconsin at Lafayette. It was the fourth time Purdue has won the conference title ouright, equaling the Big Ten record for undisputed championships pre viously shared by Chicago and W eonsin. In addition to the four tin disputed titles won by Purdue, the Boilermakers have shared five oth er championships. Since 1922 the Boilermakers have won or shared in six Big Ten titles Purdue's record entitles the Boil ermakers to ranking among the best teams of the country. They hare lost only two games, dropping a 39-2 S decision to Notre Dame early in the season and a 3S-36 game to lowa. In a later game Purdue beut lowa. 45-33. and trimmed Pittsburgh, the team that beat Notre Dame twice. hi 10 conference games Purdue has scored 431 points to the opposition's 269. averaging more than 43 points per game. The Boilermakers set the season's record by running tip 6ti points in a game against Michigan. The Purdue team is composed of three seniors and two juniors and all are from Indiana.
