We know c there are times when its much t > easier to give that advice than to « <I<T J but after all its easier after I you-*have made the start. I LT" t If twenty-two witnesses testify c that Dillinger is the mag who shot t Pat-O Malley, East Chicago police- f man two weeks ago, it will take 1 some smooth lawyer to save him t - flow the chair and we doubt if t • evej the clever Mr. O’Brien of Chicago can do it. I The. candidates are coining out < and looking around to see how the 1 situation is acd within another two < or three weeas, the field, so far as t the nominations on the Democratic t tickets, township, city and county, i ! will be fairly well filled. tires but so far we haven’t noticed any difference. You can still got tho same amount of change, buy filename amount of goods and the government is ahead about two and a half billion dollars, which may be just what we need to get over the hill. O. U Vance is the first to announce as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for mayor of Decatur. Mr. Vance has served [as a member of the city council the past eight years, has been chairman of the important electric light committee and has made good. He has been in business here many years and his acquaintance Includes every one in Decatur. The Cloverleaf Creameries continue to grow, the latest branch added being the Beyer Ice Cream plant at Kendallville. It will be converted into a cheese plant and other products will also be manufactured there. It is one of the best fields in the state and the Cloverleaf company will prove a valuable asset to that city and territory. They do things in a big way and being a part of the Kraft-Phenix Company, which in turn is a part of National Dairies, can develop the dairy field rapidly and to the advantage of every one. David Adams, of this office, has offered a suggestion that sounds good for a CWA project and that is that, the city select some suitable location down town and construct a modern parking lot.. It should be concreted and otherwise arranged to provide the greatest convenience 10 the greatest number. That would be permanent and something worth while and we hope it can be worked out. The problem is one of the toughest these days, but here we have the chance to have one at small cost and at the same time provide work for a number of men for a while. We could have two or three of them if that is best. Sounds wise affd fftazable to us. We are proud of the excellent showing made by N. R. Holthouse as chairman of the President's Birthday Party Ball. It was a success in every way. Every on? had a fine time and a check for moro than $172 was sent to the Warm Springs Foundation, this community’s contributiqn towards helping those afflicted witli infantile paralysis. The entertainment was high grade and those who attended and who failed to enjoy them selves should undergo an examination to ascertain *hat's wrong with their anatomy. Mr. Holthouse■ [ is deeply grateful to all who assist-1 ed him and to the public for their support. Every penny is accounted for in the report already filed and the entire affair was quite | satisfactory. o * TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY From the Dally Democrat File ♦ ■ ———4 l Feb. 2, 1911. — Judge O'Rourkr j fixes May 15th as date for sale of I the Fort Wayne & Springfield Railway.
