Ind.. Jan. 19— (UP)— An unusual order has been placed on tourist camps in the Evansville area by Prosecutor W. K. Denton. In the future, camp owners will be required to keep an accurate record of license numbers on cars stopping on over-night visits. The records are to be checked by th© sheriff, and tamp registers must be kept in much the same order as in hotels. The order was the outgrowth of I law violations which Denton claims have been going on at tourist camps in this vicimity. It was at a tourist camp south of here that Miss Elizabeth Robb, 20, was killed by Cyril Staab. 22. last October. Staab was ■convicted. — o 1 See “Aunt Billie from Texas.” D C. H S. Hopkins repeated a previous statement that it is planned to continue CWA until May 1. 1934. He pointed out, however, that by that time. CWA should be entirely “ont of business." Hopkins said in ordeT to conserve rapidly diminishing funds, an order had been issued, making a reduction of from 30 to 24 hours in the CWA work week mandatory I in all communities of more than 2,500 population. Jle said also that in all rural areas under 2,500 population, the work week must be reduced to 15 hours. The administration's action, di-recting-curtailment of purchases from CWA funds by the states. Hokins said, also was predicated on the monetary problem. The order means, the administration observed, that the federal CWA administration virtually will control purchases of materials hereafter. At present all purchased have been made In the field. Honkins said that hereafter materials either would be purchased here or allocations to the states for purchases which would be made in specific amounts. Explaining his action, slicing the work week in all cities and rural areas, Hopkins said that the first estimate of the average weekly payroll under CWA was “about sl2 a week." "It ran that way for a while.” be observed, “but we find that the average weekly wage has risen until last, week it. was $14.37. This meant that we were running behind in funds at the rate of between $8,900,000 and $9,000,000,000 per week.” At present CWA work is costing $75,000,000 per week, according to reports by Statisticians here. This includes local funds. FEAR KIDNAPED MAN MURDERED < CONTINUED F»’OM PAnR ONE) ions and floor of the machine.
