Many had almost forgotten what a day of bright stin■•shine was and about every one was surprised when the clouds disappeared and old Sol beamed forth. The wise merchant is now planning for a good business in this territory and including in his budget a liberal amount for advertising. The distribution of money here the next few months will be large and those who invite trade will get it. Chairman Holthouso of the President's party hall says his plans are going along nicely and that he is receiving the finest cooperation from every body. That it will bo . an event long to be remembered, goes without saying. Get a ticket and plan to go. Thousands of women are lighting to gain entrance to the court room where the famous Wynekoop murder trial is in progress in Chicago. Apparently wo thrive on sensations in this country and many will forget every duty, social or business, to gasp with those in the packed court room just to bear a little unusual evidence. Mayor Kelly of Chicago, who lias been maligned considerably because he has piled up a comfortable fortune, has proven that he has courage and ability. He arranged a meeting of parties interested in the milk strike in Chicago, helped them solve the problem and ended the big strike just when it threatened to become serious. John Dillinger will probably not spend much time in the east. If he is planning to repeat his Indiana raid in New York state he will find them looking for him and his reception may not be pleasant. Hoosier police have aided in keeping tab on his movements and • police in Oilio and other states have joined in the hunt. The country will be weti rid of him if he is captured and put safely in chains. Bank deposits are gaining all over the country as the result of the guaranteed bank deposit law now in force up to $2,500 which covers the savings of most of us just now and which is to be increased a little later. It won’t be long until the banks will have so much money that loans will be possible under proper restrictions and then real progress will open in this fair land where we have been at a standstill the past four years. It is pleasing tq hear of the continued success of another former paper carrier of the Daily Demo crat and graduate of the Decatur high school. J. I Another $40,000 for the farmers. ’ sent out this week by the Central Sugar Company, the payroll for, beets delivered after November, ,; 30th and another acceptable payi j ment promptly met. While plans J tor next year will not be given to the ftdbftc until, after the sale of . the property early next month, we r are sure they will be just right for r every thing done here by Mr. Met Milieu and his assistants have ■ been. We certainly hope that i nothing will arise that will prevent | this company from going forward >I as programmed and we are confi- - ■ dent it will not. . | —: .! The addition of the large number . of men required for the homestead . experiment here, will not effect those working on other projects II and will increase the Adams count ty quota to about 1,000 men, which ought to make the coining spring the liveliest known here in a long IJ time. Several ether improvements 11 and advancements to be made here, ! will Help and there is nothing to 1 1 prevent us stepping out. The pro- > gress being made is causing real • estate changes already and it is ■ predicted’ tliat Decatur will enjoy 1 quite a healthy and substantial > boom during the year. i We can think of no project more important just now than a sewerage system, which can be construct1 ed uow for about one-third of norf mal cost. Hartford City will exr pend a large sum as will other ' cities in Indiana and those which s do will be considered fortunate and - wisely led in a year or two when b it becomes compulsory that every > city have a dispcsal plant as well e as adequate sewerage. By taking s advantage of the government grant ii which saves thirty per cent and e of the CWA which will furnish r labor free, we could bund this real improvement the next few months easier and cheaper than we per1 ‘ haps ever can in the future Think I it over and write your opinion for ’’ our 'Public Opinion" column. ir — n Approval of civil work employes <’ on the subsistence homestead proii- jcct here is more good news for g this community, it authorizes the e employment ot 582 men for this II work and the site just south ot a town will be one of the busiest b- places out of doors the next sever-
al months following the starting of. j the big job ot building forty-eight | new homes. The selection of j ! James Elberson, president of the | j Decatur Chamber of Commerce to I i act as administrator is pleasing to his many friends and acquaintances j who recognize his fitness for that: responsible position. He will not I employ any men until he lias re-. , ceived full instructions and will! 1 then give notice so that all will ; know in time. Every one should be fair witli him and not harress him with applications until he is authorized to accept and consider same. o Fred Weivking, assistant attorney general of Indiana has returned to Indianapolis after a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Keller.

For example, they are excellent for keeping small portions of j fat, avoiding disagreeable dishwashi ing. Cleaning Windows Windows can be cleaned, rapidly by washing them with a chamois wrung out of warm water. Rinse tiie chamois and wring out as dry as possible and then rub over the windows again. Ironing Board Probably the best covering for me ironing board is unbleached muslin, which is free of lint. _______o Round and Square Dance Sunday, Sun-set.
