INDIANA AND PURDUE LEAD BIG TEN RACE Two Hoosier Schools Are Early Favorites To Capture Honors Chicago. Jan. 9 —(UP) — The western conference l>asketlall race was still in its Infancy today but Heven of the ten teams already have met defeat. The three unbeaten lea tern after the second conference games last night were lowa, I'nrdtie and Indiana. When the teams mover into action again Saturday night the schedule plus Purdue against Indiana at Bloomington, which means that another unbeaten team will fall by the wayside. lowa, the other leader, will meet Minnesota at Minneapolis It Minnesota should unexpectedly halt lowa's winning streak only one Big Ten team would remain unbeaten after the third games of the schedule.
