the splendid attitude of the Det'lltur people and organizations toward the beet sugar week. He pointed out the importance of the industry to the people of the county and explained the pledges which the people of Decatur will be asked to sign during the sugar campaign. Mr. M< Millen gave an entertaining talk after which the Junior girls of the clnb served candy made of the Crystal White sugar which was donated by the sugar company. Mrs. Passwater Introduced Miss Wolfe, a teacher In the Willshire, Ohio, schools, who played a group of selections on the vihraharp. The selections played included "The Rosary, Deep River, Silver Threads Among the Gold. When You and 1 Were Young Maggie, The World Is Walting for the Sunrise, Love is the Sweetest Thing. 1 Love Yon Truly, Largo, and Now the Day is Over.” Mr. Calland Introduced Mr. Brock who gave a talk on “Community Spirit." He gave facts about the sugar industry and told of the benefits of the factory in Decatur. He urged that the Decatur people unite in the old fashioned community spirit and back home enterprises. High scores were won by Mrs. William Lose and Mrs. Jess Kuhn. Mrs. Jerome Omlor was a guest of the club. Mrs. Omlor served alum heon in one course at the dose of the evening. RESEARCH CLUB HAS CURRENT EVENTS A current event afternoon was observed at tlie meeting of the Research Club held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bess Erwin. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Erwin served candies made of Crystal White Sugar, manufactured in Decatur. The next meeting of the club will be held with Mrs. C. O. Porter, next Monday afternoon at two-thirty o’clock. AFTERNOON CLUB HOLDS MEETING The Tuesday Afternoon club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Walter Deitsch on Seventh street, Monday. Games of bridge were played and Mrs. (Albert Mutsehler and Mrs Mark Braden were the prize winners. At the conclusion of the games Mrs. Deitsch served a luncheon. I CORINTHIAN CLASS I ELECTS NEW OFFICERS The Corinthian class of the First Christian Sunday school was enter- | tained at the home of Mrs. Fred King. Monday night. Miss Grace Lichtensteiger had -charge of the business meeting which was opened with the members repeating the twenty-third Psalm. Mrs. Dorphus Drum and Mrs. Bob charge of the year book and Miss charge of the year book and Miss August were appointed to have Mina Collier and Mrs. Harmon Kraft will comprise the program committee. The election of officers was held and Mrs. Harmon Kraft was named president; Mrs. Sol Lord, vice-pre-sident; and Mis. Dorphus Drum, secretary and treasurer. During the social hour a Christmas gift exchange was conducted, and small tables were at ranged about the entertaining rooms, decorated in seasonal colors.
