PRINCETON IS i ONLY UNBEATEN MAJOR ELEVEN Tigers Claim Mythical National Football Crown; Army Upset New York. Dec.-4—(UP) — The Princeton Tiger today wore the my- j thi< al National Football crown, and the nndimmed sunshine of gridiron fame again bathes the ivy-clustered walls of one of tiie east's "Big | Three" —after a lapse of many years. Old Nassau, pioneer of American football, stands alone after the curtain has been rung down officially on the stormy 1933 season, lit is the only major eleven in the country that did everything asked of it and the only big-time team that completed its schedules unbeaten . and united. Two other great teams were in the throne room when the final hostllties started Saturday. They were Army anti Duke. But the Princetonians invaded Yale and crushed the Elis 27-2. Army’s perfect record was shattered by Notre Dame, 13-12. Duke, pride of the south, was unexpectedly beaten 6-0 by a hardbitten Geor-{ gla Tech team. Princeton’s achievement was more remarkable because of the | topsyturvy season through which the Tigers and the rest of the nation's football legions passed, it is the first time in years that only one ■ major team remained with a perfect record. In addition, only eight points were scored against the Tigers. while they rolled up the high total of 217. These figures indicate i. a formidable attack and a stonewall defense. The Triumph climaxes one of the . most amazing comebacks in football history and brings lasting glory to coach "Fritz" Crisler. In two seasons at Nassau. Crisler booted the Tigers out of the doldrums and rekindled the fighting spirit in a school where the spirit had been completely squelched. His masterly coaching was reflected in a brilli-; ant 1933 backfield which he built entirely from sophomore material. — o DfISKSffiiAWL 11 ' 6 by Decatur’s high school basket ball teams extended their streaks last week, the Commodores increasing their winning string to four triumphs and the Yellow Jackets suffering their third defeat.
