' «r eleven o chick sorority sister of the bride. Rung the Kuppa Delta White Hose song and “O Promise Me." She was accompanied at the piano by Miss Sara Jane Kauffman. The bride wore a beautiful frock of blue velvet, fashioned empress style, very long and fitted. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses. Little Miss Franklin wore a costume of white. Following the wedding ceremony a wedding breakfast was served by the Misses Gail Franklin and Sara Jane Kauffman, The appointments for the affair were carried out in the white color note. Rev. and Mrs. Franklin left for a ten days wedding trip. They plan to visit in Cincinnati, Ohio; Frankfort. Kentucky; Cumberland Gan. through West Virginia to Washington, D. (".. and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They will be at home at Garrett after December 15. Mrs. Franklin was graduated from the Decatur high school and i Indiana University, also attending i Columbia University.. She is a i member of the Tri Kappa and ’ Kappa Delta National sororities. I For several years she has been head of the Latin department in Rochester., Rev. Franklin was graduated from Asbury College, Wilmore. Kentucky, and also attended Northwestern University. He is a member of the North Indiana conference of Methodist churches. Rev. Franklin served as pastor of the Decatur Methodist church before going to Garrett. ' Mr. and Mrs. Earl Colter and

Class of the Baptist Sunday School united with Mrs. McMaken, the teacher, in giving a party Tuesday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Hilyard. who were recently married. During the evening several games were played after which a delicious luncheon > was served by Mrs. McMaken. Those who attended were the Misses Helen Shroff, June Miller, Ida Potts, Ruth Winnes. Lucille Johnson, Mary K. Toney, Catherine Shell, and Harold Strickler, Phillip Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Hilyard and Mr. and Mrs. McMaken and daughter Helen. The V. I. S. class of the United Brethren church will hold its regular class meeting at the home of Miss Glennys Arnold tonight. lAII members are requested to meet at the church at seven thirty o’clock. Mrs. Herman Gillig will entertain the Five Hundred club Tuesday evening at eight o’clock. The Live Wire Class of the Evangelical church will meet at the home of Marcia Martin Tuesday evening at seven thirty o’clock. The menu for the chicken supper at the Christian church Saturday evening was announced today. It will consist of scalloped chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, cranberry relish, chocolate cake with whipped cream, bread, butter and coffee. The supper will be served from five to seven o’clock at twenty five cents per plate. ENTERTAIN dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Avon Burk entertained with Thanksgiving dinner for Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Merryman. Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Burk, Miss Vivian Burk and Tom Burk of this city and Miss Eileen Burk of DePauw University, Greencastle. The V. I- S. Class of the United Brethren Sunday School will meet at the church Friday night at seven thirty o'clock tor a class party to be held at the home of Mies Glennys Arnold.. ANNUAL TURKEY TROT HELD THURSDAY NIGHT The ballroom of the Decatur Country Club was beautifully decorated for the Phi Delta Kappa annual Turkey Trot given Thursday night. A large number of local persons and guests from Fort Wayne, Huntington, Portland, Celina and Warsaw attended the dance, special music numbers were played and sung by the members of the orchestra and entertainers. The ball room was decorated with red and black streamers of crepe paper and colored lights. A large center piece of white crepe paper decorated with turkey cut outs added to the beautiful decorations. Earl Gardner’s orchestra furnished the music -for the dance. The special committee in charge of the dance consisted of Harold Strickler Harold Daniels, Eugene Durkins, Harry Sheets and John Burnett. The Historical Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Kannle Fristoe. Wednesday afternoon at two-thirty o’clock. Mrs. John Schafer will have the paper. PHI DELTS HOLD FORMAL OPENING The Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity held the formal opening of their new home Thursday afternoon and evening. A large number of Phi Delts from Huntington, Fort Wayne and Portland visited the rooms dur-, ing the afternoon and evening be-| fore the annual Turkey Trot Dance, 'at the Country Club, which was
sponsored by the fraternity. The new home of the organization which Is above Mutechler's Meat Market have been refurnished and decorated. The front of the apartment consists of a large double room which Is used for the regular meetings of the fraternity and la also a lounging room. The next room Is the reception room and and the secretary’s desk Is located In that place. The card room is just back of the reception room and Is furnished with tahlee and chairs. The kitchen is decorated with paintings and an emblem of the fraternity one the walls. A bar has been Installed and Is decorated with a number of paintings. The back room Is the den and Is furnished In a log cabin style. The entire apartment Is lighted with modernistic wall lamps, floor lamps and banging chandeliers. A number of local organizations sent their congratulations end best wishes to the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity on the opening of their new home. Free refreshments were served to visitors during the afternoon and evening. The womans Club will meet in the Library Hall Monday evening at 7:45 promptly. The Art Department will be in charge of the program and Rev. C. P. Gibbs minister of the local Methodist Episcopal church will deliver the address. The Eta Tau Sigma will meet at the home of Miss Mildred Blosser, Thursday night at seven-thirty o’clock. Miss Mildred Niblick will be hostess to the annual Delta Theta Tau Christmas Party Tuesday evening o’cloc kat her home on North Fifth Street. The Psi lota Xi will hold a. regular business meeting Tuesday evening 7:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Robert Helm, North Third Street. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Kortenber and daughter Donna Lou, entertained at a 6 o’clock Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday at their home on Nuttman Ave. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller and daughter, Billie Jean. Mr. J. C. Peoples of Fort Wayne and Mr. and Mrs, J. C. Miller and daughter Dorothy and Mr and Mrs. R. C. Ehlnger of this city. LARGE CROWD ATTEND ELK THANKSGIVING DANCE Aabout thirty-five couples attended the dance given at the Elks Lodge Thursday night. The ball room was arranged in cabaret style and decorated with Thanksgiving | decorations. Jerry Knights orches-I tra from Fort Wayne furnished the music for the affair. This was the first of a series of i dances to be given through the win- | ter season. —o- 1 University Enrollment Up Chicago —(UP)— Chicago’s four largest universities —Northwestern, Chicago, Loyola and De Paul report a combined enrollment of 28, 719 students this year, slightly larger than last.
