L. E. York, league superintendent. said today in his first statement since repeal was guaranteed by last week's elections. He cited 37 counties voting dry in the state's election of delegates to the repeal convention. They will lie the battle ground of a local opi tion fight which will be taken to the 1935 legislature, he announced. He reiterated charges that lax enforcement of the beer law is resulting in open saloons, and blamed Gov. Paul V. McNutt. Funeral Os Former Mayor Mellet Held (Anderson, Ind., Nov. 13 —(UP)— Burial of Jesse H. Mellott, former Anderson mayor, was held In Memorial Park cemetery here yesterday. Approximately 1,500 persons were present. • Mellett had been prominent in Democratic politics several years. He was mayor of Anderson three terms. Work Starts On New Brewery At Richmond Richmond, Ind., Nov. 13- (UP) — Constuuction of the Richmond Brewing company plant was under way today. The estimated cost of the building was $500,000. Ross Indianapolis Nov. 13 — (UP) - Alex N. Pursley. Hartford City, knember of the state Democratic committee appeared informally before the state clemency commission today opposing release of Dr. Nelson B. Ross, serving a life sentence on charges of murdering a Muncie street car motorman. A formal hearing was to be held later in the day as the result of a recent continuance of Dr. Ross s leniency petition. WORLD’S FAIR COMES TO END (CONTINUED FROM *worhfiT fair on this continent. . Decision to reopen the tail' next year was made after an appeal by Mayor Edward J. Kelly. President Roosevelt endorsed the proposal. While final figures were not available, officials said the fair had been a financial success. Chicago business organizations estimated visitors spent more han $200,000,000 in Chicago, in addition to what they spent at • the fair. While many of the exhibits were being removed, others will he added to ' he 1934 exposition, Dawes said. (Lucky Bill Stanley armed himself with a shotgun and went into he back yard to drive away a flock of blackbirds.. As Stanley aimed at the birds, a flock of geese came within range.
