NOTRE DAME IS LACKING PUNCH a— Irish Have Gained 1,254 Yards From Scrimmage, Scored 12 Points ’ . Chicago, Nov. 7. — (U.R) - A few qotes and comment on the mid-} western football season: Notre Dame l:as now gained 1,254 yards from scrimmage in tive: games and scored only 12 points,' or an average of 627 yards for each of its two touchdowns. . . . This is the first time since Notre Dame started playing football in 1887; that the Irish have been blanked; in four games in one season. Jimmy Carter, Purdue's left half- 1 back, is the most dangerous climax runner in the Big Ten. ... He has scored on a long touchdown run in ' every game this season except ■ against Minnesota. He ran 54| yards for a touchdown against Ohio, University, 53 yards against Chicago, 41 against Wisconsin and 90 against Carnegie Tech. They're arguing over who's the 1 best Big Ten kicker. . . . Olie Olh >n, Northwestern, kicked 10 times] for an average of 54.7 against Min-1 nesota, one of his kicks traveling 78 yards. . . Johnny Kabealo, Ohio State, averaged 41 yards in 16 at-, tempts against Northwestern. Pug Lund. Minnesota halfback, is, the “iron man" of the Big Ten foot-: ball. ... He has played 793 minutes out of a possible 840 in 14 games I in two seasons. . . He has been' injured twice this season but re-| fused to call time out . . . He had I one of his teeth chipped off against, South Dakota State, but .carried i the ball eight straight times for a touchdown after the accident. . . . Against Pittsburgh he had the little finger on his right hand knock . ed out of joint catching a punt but reached over with his left hand and pulled it back in place on the run while gaining ,15 yards. An Illinois student manager probably cost Illinois a highly deserved victory over Michigan in last week's game which the Wolverines won. 7-6. ... He told Coach Zuppke Illinois had called time opt only twice in the first half, and Zuppke

Should the Children EAT IT? PARENTS, particularly mothers, are paying a lot ot attention to children’s diet these days. For it is far more economical and pleasant to keep a child well by feeding him correctly than by nursing and doctoring him back to health. Os course in case of doubt the doctor should be consulted regarding what a child should eat and what he should not eat. But do you realize that the leading manufacturers of food now’ seek the advice and approval of the leading nutritional authorities in the country, relative to the claims they make for their products in their . advertising? In other words, food advertisements are reliable sources of information regarding diet. They are based upon the results of the latest approved scientific discoveries about vitamins, minerals and roughage. in relation to vigorous bodies, clear complexions, sound teeth and properly regulated systems. • So read these advertisements carefully. Consult your doctor about them. Very often the advertiser invites you to do this because he has asked authorities, w hom your doctor respects, about statements made in those advertisements. ' — *
