Miss Lulu Gerber played a group of piano selections, and Mrs. C. M. Prugh gave an interesting talk on "Food in Germany." Sally Baumgamter gave a reading. During the social hour the hos-1 tesses, the Mesdames Dave Adams, A. R. Ashbancher, Albert Mutschler and Henry Knapp, served refreshments. CATHOLIC LADIES TO HAVE WEINER ROAST The Catholic Ladies of Columbia will enjoy a weiner and marshmallow bake at the country home of Miss Christine Schurger Tuesday evening at six-thirty o’clock. The weiner bake will be held i rain or shine, members of the committee announced. Members planning to attend the affair are asked to notify Miss Schurger or Mrs. W. P. Lose by Monday noon. BIBLE CLASS HOLDS REGULAR MEETING The members of the Phoebe Bible class of the Zion Reformed Sunday School met in the social I room of the church Wednesday evening for the regular business and social meeting. Thirty-two members responded to the roll call and one guest was present. Miss Matilda Seilemeyer had charge of the devotionals and read the twenty-seventh Psalm followed with prayer. She also presided over the business session. During the social hour games were played and prizes were won by Mrs. A R. Ashbaucher and Miss Matilda Seilemeyer. The guests were invited to the dining room where a delicious one course luncheon was served. The room was prettily decorated with ( flowers. The hostesses were the Mesdames C. M. Prugh. H. B Macy, Gottlieb Stauffer and Forest Owens. MISSIONARY SOCIETY PLANS FOR CARD PARTY The regular meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of the Zion Lutheran Church was held at the home of Mrs. Ed Bokneclit Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Paul W. Schultz presented the missionary study taken from the pamphlet "Missionary Endeavor.” A short business session followed during which plans were made for a card party to be held in the near future. Mrs. Boknecht served refreshments during the social hour. The Junior Arts department of the Woman’s Club will meet at the home of Mrs. H. B. Heller Monday afternoon at four o’clock. MISSIONARY SOCIETY PLANS FOR LUNCHEON The Women's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church will entertain with a one o’clock luncheon at the home of Mrs. J. W. Tyndall, corner of Fourth and Monroe streets, Friday September 22. Reservations for the itinch-eon will be twenty five cents. The committee in charge of the arrange-

BOYS CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARIES Guy Koos and Junior Zvrkel celebrated their twelfth birthday anniversaries at a six o’clock dinner served at tile home of Mr. and Mrs. Harve Koos Wednesday evening. Covers were luld for the honor guests, Rev. and Mrs. Frank Engle, Mrs. Clllis and Mr. and Mrs. Koos. The Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion will meet Monday evening at seven-thirty o’clock at the l»-«atur country clug. New officers will be elected at the meeting and all members are requested to he present! Following the election, a social gathering will be held ami the committee in charge of the arrangements includes the Mesdames David Adams, Dee Flyback Mabie Llnniger and Miss Mabie Staley. MEETING OF N. AND T. CLUB Mrs. Carl Hammond was hostess to the members of the N. and T. Club Wednesday afternoon at her home. Nine members responded to the roll call. Plans were made for a weiner roast to be held Friday, September 22. A social hour followed the business meeting. Mrs. Francis Eady will be hostess at the next club meeting to be held in two weeks. LOCAL WOMEN GOLFERS RECEIVE INVITATION The women golfers of tne Decatur Country Club have received an invitation from the Portland Country Club for a golf tourney to be held Saturday, September 23. The golfers will tee off at eightthirty o'clock Saturday morning, standard time. Reservations must be made by Thursday, September 21, and anyone wishing to attend the tourney may call Mrs. Herman Ehinger, who will make the reservations.
