Old-timers say there never was a saloon here. A stipulation adopted by the town’s first inhabitants in 1849 resolved that: “The proprietors of Orangeville and their successors forever will ; not make, sell, dispose of or per- ! mit others to make, sell or dispose of any spirituous liquors except for medicinal or mechanical purposes."
