JAMES MATTERN REACHES ALASKA World Flier, Lost For Nearly Month In Siberia, I Is At Nome Nome. Alaska, July 21—(UP) — Janies Mattern of Texas, world flier who was lost in Siberia for nearly a month, wae in Alaska today, but only after another forced -landing. The soviet seaplane piloted by Levanevsky which brought Mattern from An idir. Siberia, was forced to land 15 miles west of Nome at 1:30 P. M. yesterday. The plane ran out of gasoline. The seaplane was towed in by coast guard craft. It was undamaged.
